New Guidelines on Cases in Schools

On January 13, the Manitoba Government announced changes to how cases of COVID-19 will be managed and reported in schools throughout the province. Please click on the link for a letter that details the change in approach and also provides links to important info on what to do if your child is sick and the related isolation requirements.

Students Return to In-Person Classes

Students will return to in-person classes on Monday, January 17, 2022. Please click on the link for a letter to the MVSD Community outlining what they may expect as students return to school.

Positive COVID-19 Cases - GPE

We have been advised of two positive cases of COVID-19 at Gilbert Plains Elementary School when the individuals may have been infectious on January 10 and 11, 2022. We have contacted individuals who we believe are close contacts and advised them to self-isolate per current guidelines. For further details, please click on the link. Tech Supports During Remote Learning Period

As we transition into a period of remote learning for the week of January 10-14, 2022, we remind families that the following tech supports are available to assist with the following: Learning Platform Tutorials (Class Dojo, Seesaw, Office 365/Teams), Public Tech Support (contact one of our computer technicians to assist you), Wi-fi Hotspot Access and the Laptop Loan Program. Manitoba COVID-19 Dashboard Update - GPE

On Jan. 7, 2022, MVSD was notified of a new case of COVID-19 associated with Gilbert Plains Elementary School; however, the individual was NOT present in the school during their period of communicability (POC) and there are no school-related close contacts. Therefore, no public health investigation in the school is required. The case will appear on the Manitoba COVID-19 Dashboard in the coming days. Click on the link for more details.

Remote Learning Period Jan. 10-14, 2022

Manitoba Education has advised that all schools in Manitoba transition to full remote learning for a one-week period from Jan. 10-14, 2022, inclusive. MVSD schools will be closed to in-person learning for students for the duration of this timeframe, with the exception of Kindergarten to Grade 6 students who are children of Critical Service Workers (CSWs) who cannot make alternative care arrangements and children with special needs. Holiday Break Extended to Monday, Jan. 10, 2022

On Dec. 22, 2021, Mountain View School Division was informed by the Minister of Education, the Honourable Cliff Cullen, that the Christmas Break for all Manitoba schools will be extended by two days and students will return to the classroom on Monday, January 10, 2022.
